Completed Project (2006): “Emergency Obstetric Care Project in Al Mahweet, Yemen”, in partnership with the “German Development Service (DED)”. The contribution of CyprusAid was used to refurbish and equip three peripheral and one central medical centre and train health practitioners in providing emergency obstetric care services in the district of Al Mahweet in Yemen. The total contribution of CyprusAid amounted to €171,000. The project was completed by the end of 2007.

Completed Project (2007): “United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Country Programme for Yemen”. With the sponsorship of CyprusAid, WFP has provided rations of wheat and vegetable oil throughout the school year 2007-2008 to families with girls attending elementary education in the Governorate of Ammran in Yemen. The contribution has covered around 2,788 girls in 67 schools. The total contribution amounted to €170,000.

On-going project (2008-2012): “Support to Reproductive Health in Yemen”, in partnership with the Government of the Netherlands. The implementing agent is “Marie Stopes International” in Yemen on the basis of a bilateral agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Netherlands. The goal of the project is to assist the Yemeni Ministry of Public Health and Population to implement the National Strategy for Reproductive Health aiming to improve the sexual and reproductive health status of women and men in Yemen. The contribution of CyprusAid to the project amounted to €1,175,293 (2008-2012).
